We've enjoyed a summer of incredible Olympic and Paralympic action and there is no doubt that it has left some of us hungry for more. If you're not content to enjoy armchair sporting action and are keen to be in the thick of it, we've compiled a quick guide to some of the key global events coming up over the next few months.

Formula One

With the US and Brazilian Grand Prix, to name but a few, still to come this season, it's not too late to get your slice of the high octane action. Austin, Texas plays host to the F1 circus on 18th November, while Sao Paulo in Brazil will be home to the final race of the 2012 season on 25th November. If you pay this one a visit, why not check out the venue for some of the 2016 Olympic football action.

Tennis

The Davis Cup finals take place from 16th November in Seville. Spain will compete against Argentina in what is the world's largest annual international team competition. Many operators fly to Seville and this beautiful city with its cobbled streets and pretty bars and restaurants provides plenty of diversions for visitors.

Marathon

New York is a beautiful city year round and there is no doubt the New York Marathon is an amazing event for the spectator. and participant alike. Registrations are closed for this year's event taking place on 4th November, but 45,000 runners will certainly be a sight to inspire you. A visit to the city will also provide a great opportunity for a spot of Christmas shopping and with the array of amazing boutiques and department stores there will be no excuse for buying anyone on your list socks or vouchers! If you fancy something a little closer to home the Venice marathon, with 7500 runners, might float your boat, no pun intended. As runners make their way from surrounding countryside and into the city itself, they take in sights such as the Grand Canal and St Mark's Square so there are sure to be plenty of stunning viewpoints for the spectator too.

Ski Season

If adrenaline sports are more your thing, the Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado could be just the ticket. Taking place from 26th to 29th January, you can check out the incredible air some of the world's most talented snowboarders achieve. Take your own kit along and you might find the energy to take to the slopes yourself or just enjoy the apres ski of course! This resort with a reputation for glamour could certainly offer a celebrity spotting opportunity or two.

The world has been inspired by the Olympic and Paralympic activity this summer, so if you do fancy getting in on the action think about booking your trip soon to avoid disappointment.
