Monster.travel we love bringing you ideas for more unusual holidays. This week we have taken our inspiration from some of the underwater hotels that are around the world. So if you are looking for a holiday with a difference take a look at the list below.

The Floating Seahorse, Dubai

The Floating Seahorse underwater project was the first of it’s kind, raising the bar in the marine and luxury lifestyle market. Dubai has always been the perfect getaway for people looking for some sophistication and glamour and that is definitely what you will find when staying in one of the Floating Seahorse Villas.

Each of the individual Floating Seahorses has three storeys with one underwater, one at sea level and the other as an upper deck, offering the most breathtaking views. Each villa has its own unique design and personality and has up to 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom is situated on the underwater level and there is sleeping areas on the middle level as well as having an informal bed on the upper level for people wanting to sleep under the stars.

All the villas offer complete privacy and are perfect for individuals or families looking for ultimate relaxation. The beauty of these villas are that they are also only a stone's throw away from all the dining, leisure and entertainment venues that Dubai has to offer.

Utter Inn, Sweden

The Utter Inn has just one underwater room but it is definitely worth a consideration. The single underwater room is 3 metres below the surface of Lake Malaren, near Stockholm and has panoramic windows so you can completely immerse yourself with the underwater experience.

Guests choosing to stay in the underwater room at the Utter Inn arrive at the port of Vasteras and are taken 1 km to the hotel, they are provided with an inflatable boat, given instructions and then left alone to start enjoying their holiday. Some choose to have the deluxe package which includes supper being delivered to the room for you. Most people decide to do things themselves and taken advantage of the inflatable boat or even swim to shore.

The Manta Resort, Tanzania

The underwater room at the Manta Resort is anchored to the ocean approximately 250 metres from the shore. You are taken to your private room by boat and upon arrival the captain will run through all the information that you could possibly need. You are left with a kayak, snorkel and fins so you can explore at your own leisure. You are also provided with a mobile phone with all relevant contact numbers should you require any assistance.

The Mantra Resort is all-inclusive and all meals are served at pre-arranged times as well as providing you with a fully stocked fridge within your floating room.

Like the Floating Seahorse above, the Mantra Resort underwater room has three levels so that you can enjoy all the aspects that ‘water living’ has to offer.
