Terra Mitica

If you’re planning to head to Benidorm whilst enjoying discount holidays to Spain, you’ll find that there’s always plenty to do. From grazing on tapas to soaking up the sun on the beach, it’s the perfect destination for friends and families alike. But while you’re there, do make time to head to Terra Mitica, one of Europe’s best known theme parks.

A theme park like no other

Terra Mitica, or Mythical Land, is an adventure-packed theme park where all the rides have a magical mythological feel. The huge sign for the park towers over the Benidorm skyline like the famous Hollywood sign, and a trip here is sure to offer just as much excitement. The park is divided into several sections based around themes including Rome, Egypt and Greece, as well as Iberia and the Mediterranean Islands. Head to Rome to test your nerve in the Inferno, travel through ancient lands on the Magnus Colossus or reach new heights with the Flight of the Phoenix. Greece offers rides such as a laser adventure in the Labyrinth of the Minotaur, the heart-thumping terror of the SynKope and a cooling dip in the Fury of Triton water ride. If the weather is warm then the Egypt section is sure to be popular, offering a multitude of water rides. Plunge over the Falls of the Nile, splash around in the Nile River or enjoy a more sedate ride with a Port of Alexandria lake cruise.

Adventures for all

Although there are plenty of high-octane thrills to be had here there is also plenty to keep younger visitors entertained. Several of the rides have smaller versions suitable for children, so they can still experience much of the park’s excitement. Throughout the day there are performances in each of Terra Mitica’s areas which keep the crowds entertained. Watch exciting chariot rides and gladiatorial battles from Ancient Rome and join in with the street dance spectacular. Uncover the secret of the mummy in Egypt or head to Greece to see the mysterious Dark Rider. During events such as Halloween, the live performances are even more spectacular with colourful shows, acrobatics and plenty going on. During peak season there are often firework displays over the lake at sunset, so it is worth timing your visit to soak up this grand finale. There are so many rides to enjoy here that you might find that one day is not enough to enjoy them all. A two-day pass can work out to be extremely good value and children under 4 visit for free. There are also afternoon and late evening tickets available in high summer. Check out the kiosks around town to find the best discounted tickets to this unmissable attraction.
