The Travel 'Oscars' Reveal the World's Best Destinations Last week the World Travel Awards unveiled its list of the world's leading travel and tourism stars for 2012. Winners in over fifty categories were announced in the awards, now in their nineteenth year and they included Best Business Hotel, Best Beach Destination, Best Tourist Attraction and Best Golf Resort.

The results of the year long search to find the world's top travel winners were announced in a high profile awards event in New Delhi, India. The ceremony was attended by leading tourism industry professionals and key opinion-formers as they awaited the hotly anticipated results.

Winners in the prestigious awards programme are selected by public and professional voting in a year-long process. Here is a run-down of some of the big winners in the World Travel Awards 2012:

World's Leading Destination - India
