Vienna boasts some stunning architecture and is famous worldwide for its street cafe scene, Salzburg is synonymous with music and Innsbruck is a location that sits picturesquely nestled within the mountains and has to be seen to be believed.

Walking enthusiasts flock to Austria in their droves to make use of the wonderful trails that cover all types of terrain, from mountains to lake shores, woods and valleys. Austria is a wonderful destination for active visitors, with lakes to swim in, mountains to bike down, rapids to raft down and slopes to ski down. Golf is another popular pastime, and there are a number of world-class courses to tee off from.

Austrian is an immensely cultured country, and there is an year-round calendar of events. A sight not to be missed is a traditional Austrian dance performed by lederhosen-garbed performers.

Foodies will appreciate the wonderful Austrian cuisine. The country is famed for its delicious cakes and pastries in particular, with strudel being the treat most synonymous with the region. And a night out in this fabulous country would not be complete without sampling what is perhaps Austria's most famous export - the divine schnapps.
