While Ibiza does have a reputation as a party island, there is so much more to this fabulous destination than that. This is an island that has something for everyone.

Ibiza Town is the island’s capital and has a historic old town that is simply packed with atmosphere. It seamlessly blends the old and the new, and visitors can stroll from the oldest quarter with its stunning fortress to the new area of town, where you will find a fabulous selection of restaurants, bars and shops that sell everything you could hope for.

Ibiza is often referred to as the most beautiful of all the Balearic Islands. It scores a lot of points for its stunning natural features - its forests, coves, hills and cliffs. The towns located on the north of the island, such as Portinatx and Puerto San Miguel, are set in a simply delightful landscape of wild-flower-covered hills leading down to clean white beaches. If you are a true beach lover, Cala Llomga, with its huge expanse of sand, would be ideal. Families flock to Santa Eulalai for a safe beach that is complemented by some decent shops and restaurants. Foodies will be delighted by the variety and quality of the tapas served at the ‘chiringuito’ bars. These are located all over the island, even in the more remote areas, and the food is invariable fresh, delicious and authentic.

If you are coming to Ibiza for the nightlife, you won’t be disappointed. Head down to Playa d’en Bossa, where you will find some beach parties that go on until the small hours. Similarly, Playa d’en Bossa on the south coast ticks all the boxes for a committed party-goer. Here you will find the legendary clubs Bora Bora and Space. However, if you are travelling with kids, there are plenty of age-appropriate destinations too, such as a fabulous water park and a huge beach located only a short way from the airport at Ibiza Town.

For a serene and relaxing holiday away from the crowds, there is no finer location than Cala Xuclar. This small but perfectly formed bay is in a secluded spot on the north of the island, a short drive from pretty Portinatx. Here you will really be able to get away from it all, but do bear in mind that there is just one small bar here and none of the other facilities associated with beaches that are more popular. Es Cana is another laid-back destination with a pretty clutch of white-washed residences and eateries and several cool bars. Tourists from right across the island also descend on this town for the hippie market that is held every week.

Port des Torrent is a great place if you are after an authentic Balearic experience. Many people choose to base themselves here to enjoy the traditional pleasures of the island, and should you crave a change of scene at any point, it’s easy enough to visit San Antonio just down the coast with its many bars and clubs.
