Madrid is a city that reverberates with energy; it is a magical destination with a passion for life.

Very few cities can claim an artistic heritage as impressive as Madrid’s and many lovers of art return year after year, so many treasures does the city boast. For hundreds of years the Spanish royal family invested in the nation’s home grown talents and those from further afield. Some truly world class masterpieces hang in the city’s galleries, and both the quality and quantity of the art on display will take your breath away.

Madrid is also a destination loved by foodies - with its wonderful culinary scene producing some of the best restaurants in all Spain. From tapas in hip bars to formal suppers in age old buildings, eating in Madrid is always an absolute pleasure.

As the sun sets, Madrid really does come to life with a bang. The city boasts that it is home to the most bars of any city in the world, plus a whole plethora of night clubs and glamourous cocktail bars. The choice of destinations for an evening out is staggering, and many people choose to hop from one bar to the next, or simply sit outside and drink in the legendary atmosphere. This is not the whole story by any means though, as it is the people who make the nightlife so unique, joyously dancing in the streets to the early hours. Madrid is a friendly city, and you will never be short of people to meet and share a drink or some tapas with. Be prepared for some very late nights!

Madrid is a place where the fiery Spanish soul is very much evident. It is the most welcoming of cities, diverse, multi-cultural - a real melting pot of influences that guarantees you will never forget your visit here.

Madrid may not have the architectural prestige of Paris, the epic history of Rome, or Barcelona’s standing as the home of the Modernista masterworks. And while there are no landmarks as iconic as the Eiffel Tower or La Sagrada Familia, there are swathes of wonderfully impressive buildings that are the lifeblood of the city. From ancient mansions and elegant royal dwellings to some wonderfully quirky examples of modern Spanish architecture - Madrid has an atmosphere all of its own. Highlights include the delightfully extravagant belle epoque and the understated but no less impressive baroque. Madrid is the sum of its many parts, and the result is a truly beautiful city.
